VERSATILE

What my soul reveals, whether I choose or fall short,
When my guard's down and I want to feel like I belong;
Is rarely what my hearts' been holdin' on.
The weight of this responsibility cannot lean on vulnerability.
I don't know how.

This sense of duty binds me to be forever vigilante
To protect, to avoid being sucked up by the void
To the point where I could not say
What is it that I still fear about touching;
Being touched by something other than
What bewitches the body.

Giving meat away is easy,
You know to me bodies are blood bags essentially,
Spirits are...anyway defined incompletely.
Gaining awareness helps acknowledging,
But the truth is cold, never comes without work
And only if I'm not too aware of me, I can be of you.

Somehow that's all that matters,
Even if it's true that in my pursuit of learning
The language you use
There are endless missed signals growing afraid
That the eventual connection will fail.
Not because we couldn't prevail,

Call it fate, yet I don't believe.
We call fate the moments when we get the chance
To be who we are supposed to be, naturally;
Without knowing how it's supposed to show.
We call it fate when our perception is in tune,
When rarely, things do come true.
We call it fate when something sets an order
Which feels like Deja vu,
For which we have no words, just;
Virtue or vice to not withstand it lonely.

I wonder which are the means to my end
Not as in death or as in purpose,
Rather as in the choices I can make.
I believe there's always a choice, always a way
And known that the more you're willing
To find, more parts of you pay;
Transmuting, unknowing,
If it will take your leg, your arm
Your heart or your brother.
Whatever you could be guarding
Leaves a weak spot in another;

Where you think you've prepared
For what can or cannot happen.
Like a cat wondering in how many lives,
There's black outs making me forget;
When I've passed onto another?
How much of this luck I got left?
If is it enough to mend
The farthest I've ever bent?
Either way it's gotta' be, it's gotta' be
Something that doesn't set only me, free.
