DEMASKED

“DEMASKED” (Romanian ,,DEMASCAȚI”)
Was a project about ordinary people and their masks.
About how society forces us to conform.
It explored the barriers we impose upon our true selves and the walls we build to hide our real face.

PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION AT BERĂRIA H, BUCHAREST

In these photographs, I sought to capture the sincerest expression, attempting to highlight how the subjects appear without masks.
I searched for their true selves amidst the cracks in the walls.
Some may look better, while others may appear worse, but it is certain that prolonged mask-wearing slowly consumes us.
When we take the masks off, letting go of a part of ourselves becomes inevitable.
At the same time, we might discover that because we let masks define us, relinquishing that part of ourselves is not possible.
Integration and redefining our own parts become the only path to reclaiming our authentic selves.
